Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position with night shifts and cardiovascular monitoring responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 54-bed main Cardiac Telemetry unit within a hospital
• Patient population includes heart failure, heart attacks (STEMI and NSTEMI), strokes requiring cardiac monitoring, arrhythmias, chest pain, and occasional medical overflow
• Most patients are on cardiac monitors with remote and unit-based telemetry monitoring
• Handles cardiac drips and urgent cardiac cases
• Required to work 3x12 hour night shifts (19:00-07:30)
• Every other weekend required and must work 2 out of 3 designated holidays
• Floating may be required within the hospital or to affiliated hospitals depending on census
• Charting is performed using Cerner Powerchart
• Must be able to handle increased patient ratios up to 1:7 as needed
• Self-paced pre-start training modules (up to 8 hours) required within one week of signing the contract
• Scrub color requirement is Caribbean Blue
• Professional conduct is strictly enforced; conduct issues may result in immediate contract termination
• Time off requests must not exceed 10 days, and holiday RTO may require working at least 1 holiday
• No local candidates accepted (must live at least 50 miles from the facility)

Requirements

• Active RN license required and must be from a state at least 50 miles away from the facility
• Minimum of 1 year recent experience in telemetry or cardiac nursing required
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (pending certifications accepted if obtained before start)
• Cerner experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Must have been separated from previous employment at the facility for at least 3 years to be eligible
