Stage Manager - Smuin Contemporary Ballet

Position: Stage Manager position reports directly to Artistic Director, Ballet Master and Production Director.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Learning the season rep and stage managing all rehearsals and performances
• Maintaining hard copies and scanned copies of all calling books
• Assisting Production Director with securing music rights
• Maintaining dancers supplies of water, cups, tissues, first aid supplies in theaters
• Providing daily support in studio to Artistic Director, Ballet Master, and choreographers
• Providing event support onsite and off including gala, in-studio, outdoor (includes setting up and striking chairs)
• Maintaining studio floors(including regular hot mop, alcohol mop, and buffing as needed), measuring and maintaining taped marks for relevant venue stages
• Maintaining sound equipment in studio and loading audio files onto rehearsal iPads
• Running sound in studio leading up to the show
• Providing video documentation support for designated rehearsals including upload/download, cataloging and distributing as needed
• Maintaining video library and rehearsal/performance footage both on hard drives and cloud storage and maintaining passwords/security

REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

• Bachelor’s Degree and/or three-five years’ experience in professional stage management in union and non-union settings with an organization of similar scope
• Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Ability to read sheet music
• Personal vehicle for errands in the Bay Area directly related to SMUIN
• Valid Driver’s License

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent problem solving skills

2022 – 2023 season: Guaranteed 37 week seasonal contract
