Job Description

A K-12 school in Robstown, TX is seeking a skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) for a contract position spanning the current school year (CSY). This role plays a critical part in supporting students with visual impairments, enabling their independence and success within the school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and evaluate students orientation and mobility needs.
• Develop and implement individualized mobility plans tailored to each student.
• Provide direct instruction and support to students to enhance their travel skills safely and confidently.
• Collaborate with teachers, families, and other specialists to integrate mobility goals into individualized education programs (IEPs).
• Conduct training sessions for school staff on strategies to assist visually impaired students.
• Monitor progress and adjust mobility plans as needed.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

• Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist.
