Title : Back-End Development Engineer

Location : Brooklyn Park, MN | onsite

Job Type : Contract (9 months)

Compensation : $67.00 - $90.00 per hour (W2 only, no C2C)

We are seeking a skilled Back-End Development Engineer to join our client, a leading retail technology organization. This role focuses on building and optimizing API-driven services that power large-scale, data-intensive applications. You will work in a dynamic environment that values innovation, scalability, and performance.

Job Description

As a Back-End Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain microservices and APIs that integrate with cloud and big data platforms. This is a fully onsite position at our client’s technology center. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineering and product development, to deliver secure, high-performing solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement back-end services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Develop and maintain REST APIs and microservices architectures.
• Integrate with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), BigQuery, and Apache Hadoop.
• Collaborate with data science and engineering teams to build scalable data solutions.
• Ensure system reliability, security, and performance through best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in distributed systems.

Qualifications

Required:

• Strong proficiency in Java and experience with Spring Boot.
• Experience with Apache Hadoop, Apache Hive, Apache Spark, and the Spark ecosystem.
• Expertise in RESTful API development and microservices architecture.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery.
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
• Knowledge of distributed systems and modern back-end frameworks.
• Understanding of Agile development principles.

Preferred:

• Knowledge of Big Data technologies and data modeling.
• Familiarity with Kafka, Python, and Scala.
